Who we are

We are the Galico Research Group, a group of inorganic and material chemists interested in lanthanide materials.

Our group was established in July 2025 when Diogo was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Alberta.

We work with a wide range of lanthanide(III) materials, including coordination compounds, solid-state materials, molecular cluster aggregates, and nanoparticles.

Our group values creativity. Whether it be the synthesis of new materials, the development of new spectroscopic tools, or the demonstration of new properties and potential applications, our mission is to generate and disseminate new knowledge.
